Guitar Building and Music Activities

Guitars and music has been a passion since age 16. Influences: the music style of the Shadows and Ventures, 1960's surf music, The Eagles, Mark Knopfler, Tony Mottola, Les Paul, Chet Atkins, etc.

My first electric guitar was a "Carlton" brand; a heavy guitar with a plywood body and wood-laminate top (wood grain). It was fitted with two pickups (not sure what kind) and a fairly-decent tremelo. The neck was straight and the guitar was set up nicely. Actually, surprisingly-good quality for a $27 investment.

  3. Alesis Quadraverb (GT) LCD Repair and Restore.
This is my QV GT fitted with a white-on-blue LCD.
I still have some spare LCD modules available for sale. These are wired and tested and looks like the one on the picture above.

  6. Amps.

My main tube amplifier is a hand-wired replica of a 60's Vintage VOX AC30 that I built from a kit. This is a Weber 6V30 head kit finished in tooled black leather tolex ( see inside.) Most everything is stock, except the power transformer which is a Mercury Magnetics VXP-30. DC filaments for the pre-amp is used. For reliability reasons, additional B+ fusing was added along with cooler biasing. This amp is used with a 2x12 Avatar speaker cabinet, housing a pair of Celestion Alnico Blue, 12-inch, ( speakers).

  7. Fun at Nokie Edwards' (of the Ventures) Hall-of-Fame induction party:

  8. With Roy Pedersen at a recent gig in Junction City, Oregon.
Roy was 94 at the time the picture was taken. He was famous in his heyday as a country-and-western drummer with "The Dudes of the West". Vera, Roy's wife, was the singer in the band.
