AMTOR and Pactor for the DSP56002EVM
Version 1.4, January 10, 2000.
Code package containing executables and source code for utilizing a
DSP56002EVM and a PC to run AMTOR and Pactor I. This is a full
transmit/receive implementation. A 486-class machine running DOS is a minimal requirement.
A Pentium-class machine allows running the program in a DOS box or
also will allow running a DOSEMU session under Linux. Otherwise
experiment --- a slow machine will probably loose the link, hang up,
or behave erratically.
What's different in this version:
Includes .CLD objects for those wishing to use other
bootloaders. Source code for EVM and PC-side programs.
Please note that I will not provide any support for
these programs. Use it as you wish on your own risk!
To follow later:
i) Huffman transmission of data (it will receive either),
ii) Binary file up/downloads,
iii) ANSI graphics,
iv) "Long path" mode.
Note: This is free experimental software - use at your own discretion.

Instructions
- Hook up your EVM on COM 1 or 2. If you are planning on transmitting,
you must also complete the PTT driving interface.
Pipe audio to and from the EVM to a transceiver.
- Edit the configuration files "EVMTOR.CNF" and "PACTOR.CNF". Pay attention to which
COM port should be used. Also use your own callsign please.
There also are two very useful ".BAT" files that you
can use if you use "DL".
- Download EVMPAC.CLD (for Pactor I) or EVMAMT.CLD (for Amtor)
using the debugger (or use DL and download the .LOD) and start execution
at address 0000. Alternatively, if you use DL, use the batch files
RUNPAC (for Pactor I) or RUNAMT (for Amtor).
- Switch serial cables and execute PACTOR.EXE. If alls well,
you should see the on-screen tuning bars light up to signals
on the band.
- Presently there is very little documentation for the Pactor program.
Below is a list of essential function keys for the Pactor program. Use
ALT-H in the TOR program to see how the function keys are assigned there.
- F1 - Start Unproto transmission
- F2 - Start an ARQ link
- F3 - Request ARQ breakin
- F4 - Request AR link down
- F5 - not assigned yet
- F6 - Monitor traffic (will not decode blind calls)
- F7 - Buffer clear
- F8 - not assigned yet
- F9 - Force standby (soft)
- F10 - Force standby (hard)
- INS - Insert "mycall" in outgoing text buffer
- END - Turn an ARQ link around, i.e., become the IRS
- ALT-F - Files download menu
- ALT-R - Enter remote callsign here
